Hi! I'm Hayden.
< That's me after finally being able to jog a mile and a half in around 13 minutes!
I'm the mother of three children and wickedly proud of them all!
Their dad and I divorced when they were all pretty young, but that didn't change the fact that I was blessed to have them to love and raise to the best of my ability. They are my contribution to the world, and I'd like to think I did a pretty decent job of building them into some amazing individuals.
I spent the bulk of my career in fire and rescue. Later, after my children were almost grown, I started a little mobile DJ business and have since retired at a fairly early age. Now days I like to just go around helping people out wherever I can. In doing so I’ve made my life an ever changing adventure, and I like it this way.
And now I’ve gone and written “Letters To Boot Camp.”
Well, I wrote most of it, but my son, JD, wrote some as well. (Of course, I had his full permission to use his letters in the book.) After all, it was actually his trip through Boot Camp on Parris Island that inspired me to write and share our experience.
Boot Camp is tough as hell on the recruits, and it’s a crazy ride for the families of those recruits as well. The way I figure it, the more curves and pot holes you know about in advance, the better prepared you are to handle them. That’s why I did this, so I might share a bit of handy information, and so you or your loved one might have a glimpse of what’s coming before it hits you in the face.
It’s the story of my life, and JD's life… At least 3 months of it. I hope by reading it you not only learn something new, but enjoy the story as well.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or thoughts you may have. I’m always here for my friends.
Semper Fi,
Hayden Hodges
